| Obverse description | The quartered arms of Portuguese Angola occupy the central field, incorporating the Portuguese royal escutcheon with five bezants and the armillary sphere of Angola, surmounted by a mural crown. The shield is rendered in bold relief against a plain field. The circular legend reads COLONIA DE ANGOLA, separated by dot stops, and arcs around the upper portion of the coin. The date of issue appears in large numerals at the base of the design, flanked by small ornamental stops. The entire design is bounded by a toothed inner border following the coin's milled rim. |
