Aguascalientes issued copper emergency coinage in 1915 under the authority of the Constitutionalist forces during the Mexican Revolution, when silver had effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply unavailable to the fractured provisional governments scrambling to pay troops and suppliers. These state-issued pieces were never intended as permanent currency; they filled a gap that the central government in Mexico City could no longer manage.
KM#600 is well-documented among the numerous revolutionary-era municipal and state issues, many of which were repudiated within months of striking.
