Reverse description Two menacing extraterrestrial figures are depicted in high relief against a background of intersecting grid lines evoking a radar or targeting display. The foreground alien is rendered in close three-quarter view, its elongated cranium adorned with swept-back ridged fins, its eyes highlighted with applied green colorization. A second alien figure appears behind and to the left, similarly posed in a confrontational stance with green-colored eyes. A flying saucer is subtly visible in the upper left field, reinforcing the invasion theme. The curved legend INVASION IS HERE arcs along the upper left periphery in a stylized typeface consonant with the science-fiction subject matter.

Additional information

Ghana's "Aliens" series belongs to a wave of sub-Saharan mint programs that emerged after the Royal Mint of Holland and later the Mautner Markart group began actively courting African central banks into the numismatic collectibles market in the 2010s. The Bank of Ghana has issued under this arrangement with relatively little domestic circulation intent — these are hard-currency earners, priced in euros and dollars before they reach any Ghanaian collector.

The colourization was applied after striking, a finish that tends to deteriorate under UV exposure over decades — a longevity question the secondary market has not yet had to answer.
