| Reverse description | Round cast brass coin with a central square hole flanked by four characters arranged in cruciform layout. The right and left fields bear the Manchu script reading 'Boo-su' (ᠪᠣᠣ ᠰᡠ), identifying the Suzhou Mint. The upper and lower fields carry the Chinese characters 當 (dang, meaning 'equal to' or 'value') and 二十 (er shi, meaning 'twenty'), together denoting a face value of 20 cash. The characters and script are cast in bold relief against the flat field, consistent with Qing emergency-issue coinage of the Xianfeng period. |
