| Obverse description | The obverse features an arrangement of large Chinese characters filling the central field, reading 'Republic of China' (中華民國) within a beaded inner circle. The cyclical date characters 巳己 appear prominently to the left and right of the inner circle. Surrounding the beaded border, the outer legend reads 'Made in the Provincial Capital (Urumchi), Sinkiang' (新疆省城造) at the top, with the denomination 'Each piece worth 20 Cash' (當紅錢二十文) completing the circumference below. The coin is struck on a plain copper flan with a reeded edge and exhibits the characteristic rough workmanship of the Urumchi Mint. |
