The medallion is surrounded by an elaborate arabesque foliate border with scrolling vegetal ornaments occupying the lower field. The circular legend 'الجمهورية العربية اليمنية' (The Yemen Arab Republic) runs along the upper periphery in Arabic script, with additional Arabic inscriptions completing the surround. The entire design is contained within a beaded border. |
