Beschrijving voorzijde	The obverse is printed in black intaglio on a light ground with a pink guilloche underprint. At left, a reclining allegorical female figure is set before a tropical landscape vignette, while a second circular vignette at right encloses a seated child figure within a laurel wreath frame. The bank title 'BANCO NACIONAL DE BOLIVIA' runs across the top in bold letterpress, with the denomination 'VEINTE BOLIVIANOS EN MONEDA CORRIENTE' at centre below, and the date and place of issue 'Sucre, Enero 1° de 1883' at lower right.

Beschrijving keerzijde	The reverse is engraved in brown intaglio with an elaborate symmetrical guilloche pattern filling the field, incorporating large numeral '20' counters at left and right. A central vignette presents a seated classical allegorical figure holding a document, with a globe at her side and a small putto at her feet, all within an ornate frame. The inscriptions 'BANCO NACIONAL' and 'DE BOLIVIA' appear at the top and bottom of the central vignette respectively, with the printer's imprint 'American Bank Note Co. New York' at the lower margin.
