| 正面描述 | The Venezuelan national coat of arms is depicted centrally, featuring the quartered shield with a sheaf of wheat, crossed flags and swords, and a white horse in full gallop in the lower field. The date appears flanked on either side of the shield at mid-field, with the denomination numeral '20' and the legend 'BOLÍVARES' prominently displayed below the arms. The circular legend 'REPÚBLICA DE VENEZUELA' runs along the upper periphery, separated by two dot stops. A fine beaded border encircles the entire design. |

Venezuela's late-1990s monetary situation was deteriorating rapidly — oil revenues had collapsed, inflation was running above 30%, and Hugo Chávez's election in December 1998 signaled a political rupture that would eventually overhaul the currency entirely. These pieces circulated through that transition. The Y#76.1 and Y#76.2 varieties differ in edge detail, a minor production change at the Casa de la Moneda de Venezuela that collectors sometimes overlook.
The bolívar itself would be redenominated in 2008, with 1,000 old bolívares becoming one bolívar fuerte — rendering this denomination effectively worthless in purchasing terms well before that official conversion.
