| Obverse description | The central field displays the full national coat of arms of Panama, featuring a quartered shield surmounted by a harpy eagle with wings displayed, the shield flanked by crossed swords and rifles, with two cornucopiae at the base. A scroll across the upper portion of the shield bears the national motto PRO MUNDI BENEFICIO in relief. Nine stars arc above the eagle, representing Panama's provinces at the time of independence. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA runs along the upper border, while the denomination 20 BALBOAS appears at the base, with the fineness LEY 0.925 inscribed below the coat of arms. |
