| Obverse description | The obverse features the national coat of arms of Panama rendered in selective gold plating at center, depicting a quartered shield surmounted by a harpy eagle with wings displayed, flanked by crossed cannon and rifles with pennants, and encircled by a ring of nine stars. The central device occupies a polished mirror field within a raised inner border. The legend REPÚBLICA DE PANAMÁ arcs along the upper periphery and VEINTE BALBOAS along the lower periphery, both inscribed in bold raised lettering against a deeply toned outer ring. The overall design employs a two-tone proof finish contrasting gold-plated relief elements against a dark field. |
