| Obverse description | The obverse features the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Panama rendered in selective gold plating at center, depicting a quartered shield surmounted by a displayed eagle with outstretched wings, the shield containing a crossed sword and rifle in the upper left, tools of labor in the upper right, a cornucopia in the lower left, and a winged wheel above a shovel in the lower right, with nine stars arching above the eagle. The surrounding border legend reads 'REPÚBLICA DE PANAMÁ' along the upper arc and 'VEINTE BALBOAS' along the lower arc, both in raised silver-toned lettering against a deeply mirrored proof field. The motto 'PRO MUNDI BENEFICIO' appears on a scroll across the shield. The contrasting gold-plated inner field and silver-toned outer legend band create a striking two-tone effect characteristic of this commemorative issue. |
