Obverse description The national coat of arms of Panama is prominently centered in the field, depicting a quartered shield featuring crossed swords and rifles, the Isthmus of Panama with ships on both oceans, a cornucopia, and a winged caduceus, surmounted by an eagle with wings spread and flanked by nine stars arranged in an arc above. The encircling legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 20 BALBOAS appears along the lower border. The fineness inscription LEY 0.500 is displayed beneath the shield, and two raised dots serve as decorative separators within the legend. The entire design is executed in high-relief proof finish against deeply mirrored fields.
