Obverse description The Panamanian national coat of arms is prominently displayed at center, featuring a shield divided into four quarters with a cornucopia, a winged eagle displayed above, and the national motto within. The legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 20 BALBOAS appears along the lower periphery. The fineness LEY 0.925 is inscribed in the lower exergue beneath the arms. Nine small stars adorn the upper portion of the shield, and the overall design is rendered in high relief against a mirror-like proof field.
