Obverse description The national coat of arms of Panama occupies the central field, featuring the quartered shield supported by a displayed eagle with wings spread, flanked by nine stars along the upper arc and the national motto PRO MUNDI BENEFICIO inscribed on a ribbon across the shield. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 20 BALBOAS is inscribed along the lower periphery, both separated by raised dots. The fineness LEY 0.500 and the Franklin Mint initials FM appear in the lower exergue beneath the shield.
