Additional information

Vajira Hospital in Bangkok was founded in 1903 under royal patronage, named after Queen Saovabha Phongsri's title "Vajira," and has functioned as a public hospital serving the capital ever since. This 2022 commemorative marks its 119th anniversary — an unusual interval for a commemorative issue, chosen because the hospital's 120th fell outside a convenient ceremonial window in the Thai royal calendar.
