Issued to mark the centennial of the Royal Thai Metropolitan Police, established in 1915 under King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) as a reorganization of earlier Bangkok policing structures inherited from the Bowring Treaty period. The commemorative 20 Baht series has been Thailand's workhorse format for institutional anniversaries since the 1990s, with the Royal Thai Mint producing dozens of types that circulate freely alongside base-metal circulation coinage.
