Siam's Ministry of Finance — not a central bank — retained direct control over note issuance until the founding of the Bank of Thailand in 1942, and this series reflects that arrangement. De La Rue in London printed the notes while the issuing authority remained a government ministry in Bangkok, an unusual structure that persisted for decades.
The Type II designation within the Series 1 issues distinguishes this from the earlier Type I by the addition of microtext security printing against the pink background ground tint — a refinement De La Rue applied mid-series rather than at reissue, which creates meaningful variety within what catalog users might otherwise treat as a single issue.
