| Obverse description | Printed in red on white paper, the obverse carries the Portuguese coat of arms at upper left flanked by the bank title BANCO NACIONAL ULTRAMARINO in two lines across the centre, with the denomination VINTE AVOS in a rectangular panel below. Chinese characters for the value (弍毫) appear at left and lower right, with corner value numerals 20 in ornamental cartouches. A serial number appears twice and a manuscript signature of the Gerente is placed at lower right, with the printer's imprint along the bottom margin. |

The full Chinese bank title runs across the top, with BANCO NACIONAL ULTRAMARINO below it, and MACAU together with the Chinese place name 門澳 appears at the foot. |
