Reverse description The central vignette presents a finely engraved intaglio battle scene commemorating the Reconquest of Luanda in 1648, with Portuguese soldiers storming toward the fortified hilltop stronghold of São Miguel whilst fallen combatants lie in the foreground; sailing vessels are visible in the harbour to the right, and a large tree anchors the right margin. The legend "A RECONQUISTA DE LOANDA EM 1648" is inscribed in the lower right of the vignette. The denomination numeral "20" is repeated in each corner within ornate guilloche panels, and the printer's imprint "THOMAS DE LA RUE & COY. LTD. LONDRES INGLATERRA" appears in small letterpress text at the foot of the note.
