| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Savang Vatthana facing right, wearing a decorated military collar, rendered in high relief with fine sculptural detail. The surrounding legend reads COURONNEMENT DE S.M. SRI SAVANG VATHANA in Latin characters along the upper periphery, with the date 1971 at the base, all separated by small ornamental stops. The engraver's initials appear at the truncation of the bust. The frosted portrait contrasts sharply against the mirror-polished field, characteristic of the Proof finish produced at the Monnaie de Paris. |
