20 000 Francs

Guinea's 20 000 Franc note is the highest denomination in the current series, introduced at a time when inflation had so thoroughly eroded purchasing power that even this note barely covered a basic market transaction in Conakry. The Guinean Franc was redenominated in 1986 — dropping three zeros from the Syli-era currency — but decades of chronic inflation steadily rebuilt the pressure at the top of the denomination ladder, eventually necessitating this note.

Pick 50 is printed on cotton substrate by the Imprimerie de la Banque de France, which has supplied currency production for numerous Francophone African states.
