Obverse description Central field features a rectangular panel bearing a Byzantine-style iconic depiction of the Archangel Michael rendered in a stylised medieval manner, with a nimbus around his head and a staff or sceptre in hand, accompanied by abbreviated Greek inscriptions identifying the figure. The denomination '20000' appears in the upper field above the panel, with 'FORINT' inscribed below it, and the date '1999' with the Budapest mint mark 'BP.' immediately beneath. The circular legend 'MAGYAR KÖZTÁRSASÁG' (Republic of Hungary) runs along the periphery in bold raised letters, flanked by two bullet-point separators.
