| Descrizione del dritto | The denomination '20000' is inscribed prominently in large stylised characters at the center of the field, with 'FORINT' below it. The legend 'MAGYAR KÖZTÁRSASÁG' (Republic of Hungary) arcs along the upper periphery in a distinctive runic-inspired lettering style. Below the denomination, the mint mark 'BP.' and the year '1996' appear in two lines. Flanking the lower field on either side are symmetrical decorative motifs in the form of stylised foliate or leaf-scroll ornaments in relief, meeting at the base where the engraver's monogram 'KNA' is incused. |

Issued to mark the 1100th anniversary of the Magyar conquest of the Carpathian Basin — the Honfoglalás of 895–896 AD, when the seven Hungarian tribes under Árpád crossed the Verecke Pass and established the foundation of the Hungarian state. The 1996 commemorative program around this anniversary was extensive, and the National Bank produced multiple denominations in both gold and silver. This is among the higher-value gold issues from that series.
The .986 fineness places it fractionally above the more common .900 and .917 gold standards, aligning with Hungarian commemorative practice of the period rather than any bullion convention.
