| Obverse description | Front-facing effigy of Queen Sirikit, elegantly dressed in traditional Thai royal attire with an ornate brooch and pearl necklace, her hair styled upswept in a refined coiffure. The portrait occupies the central field against a deeply mirrored proof background. A curved Thai-script legend arcs along the left and right periphery of the coin, identifying the subject by her full royal title. |

Issued to mark the 90th birthday of Queen Sirikit Kitiyakara on August 12, 2022, this gold commemorative was authorized by royal decree — a standard mechanism for Thai commemorative issues tied directly to the royal family. Queen Sirikit had been formally designated Queen Mother following King Vajiralongkorn's coronation in 2019, though she had suffered a debilitating stroke in 2012 and remained largely out of public life for the decade preceding this issue.
Thai royal commemoratives at this denomination are produced in tightly controlled mintages and seldom reach secondary markets domestically, with most absorbed by institutional buyers and royal household distribution channels.
