| Beschrijving voorzijde | Treasury note (Kassenschein) of the Kreis Mayen district, dated 25 August 1923, with the denomination of twenty million Mark stated in full across the centre. The text notes that the note was issued with the authorisation of the Reichsfinanzministerium and that it would lose its validity one month after announcement of withdrawal in the local newspapers of the Mayen district. The note is a plainly typeset emergency currency (Notgeld) document with no elaborate vignette. |

| Opmerkingen |
Kreis Mayen, a rural district in the Rhineland, issued this 20,000,000 Mark note at the height of Germany's hyperinflation spiral in 1923 — a period when district and municipal authorities across the country were printing emergency currency (Notgeld) simply to meet payroll and local commercial demands. The denomination itself tells the story: what would have been an absurd figure two years earlier had become routine by mid-1923.
At 147 × 76 mm, the format is typical for late-inflation Notgeld — utilitarian in size, generally unambitious in design compared to the decorative small-denomination issues of 1920–21.
