| 表面の説明 | The obverse carries a light olive-gold underprint vignette of a medieval street scene with archways and timber-framed buildings filling the right portion of the note. At upper left, a red-printed rectangular vignette contains a stylised decorative figure, below which the circular city seal of Annweiler is rendered in black intaglio-style print. The denomination 'Zwanzig Millionen Mark' is set in bold letterpress across the centre, flanked by ornamental guilloche scrollwork, with the issue date and two manuscript signatures of the Mayor and City Collector appearing in the lower portion. |

Annweiler am Trifels issued this note at the height of the Weimar hyperinflation, when municipal and regional authorities across Germany were legally permitted — and practically compelled — to print their own emergency currency, known as Notgeld. By the time denominations reached the millions of marks in late 1923, the Reichsbank's printing capacity was overwhelmed, and local issuers had to fill the gap. A 20,000,000 Mark note from a small Palatinate town is entirely consistent with the chaotic monetary conditions of that autumn.
Annweiler's series is catalogued under DeNG 7/8, the standard Grabowski-Mehl reference for German municipal Notgeld of this period.
