A large central oval guilloche carries the numeral '20' in white relief, surmounted by a ribbon banner inscribed 'FREIE HANSESTADT BREMEN'. Below the oval, the denomination 'Milliarden Mark' is set in bold Gothic blackletter script. A text panel at the foot states the legal tender clause in Fraktur script, advising acceptance by all Bremen state treasuries and announcing a two-week invalidation notice via Bremen daily newspapers.
