Obverse description The Polish state emblem occupies the central field within a raised inner circle: a crowned white eagle displayed, with wings spread and talons extended, rendered in high relief against a plain field. The date 1998 is divided on either side of the eagle's lower body, with '19' to the left and '98' to the right. A decorative border of small stars and stylized foliate motifs frames the inner circle. The circular legend 'RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA' runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 'ZŁ 2 ZŁ' appears in the lower exergual area. The mint mark 'MW' of the Mint of Poland is incorporated near the base of the design.

Reverse description A detailed frontal elevation of Kórnik Castle occupies the central field, depicted in a Neo-Gothic architectural style with two flanking square towers surmounted by battlements, a prominent central pointed archway with tracery windows above, and arched ground-floor doorways below. The background field is filled with a repeating quatrefoil lattice pattern evoking Gothic decorative stonework, which extends to the coin's rim on either side of the castle. The inscription 'ZAMEK W KÓRNIKU' is engraved in two lines in the lower portion of the field beneath the castle's plinth line. A small engraver's monogram appears at lower right.
