Bank Polski's exile series was authorized by the Polish government reconstituted in France after the September 1939 collapse, with printing contracted to Bradbury, Wilkinson in Surrey. The notes were prepared for a return to Poland that never came — at least not under the government that commissioned them. By the time the war ended, the London-based exile administration had been displaced politically, and these notes never entered general circulation on Polish soil.
Bradbury, Wilkinson's intaglio work on this series is technically accomplished, which makes the notes' ultimate irrelevance as currency all the more pointed. Pick 80 is the 2 Złote denomination, the smallest of the exile issue.
