| Obverse description | Broad, irregularly shaped gold flan bearing two struck impressions of the zeri mahbub nisfiye (half zeri mahbub) obverse die side by side, each impression displaying the ornate tughra of Sultan Mahmud I within a beaded border. The tughra, rendered in elaborate calligraphic Arabic script, dominates each circular strike. The flan itself is wider than a standard zeri mahbub, consistent with a pattern piece intended to demonstrate the double-strike test method. A suspension hole is pierced at the top of the flan. |
