Obverse description Broad, irregularly shaped gold flan bearing two struck impressions of the zeri mahbub nisfiye (half zeri mahbub) obverse die side by side, each impression displaying the ornate tughra of Sultan Mahmud I within a beaded border. The tughra, rendered in elaborate calligraphic Arabic script, dominates each circular strike. The flan itself is wider than a standard zeri mahbub, consistent with a pattern piece intended to demonstrate the double-strike test method. A suspension hole is pierced at the top of the flan.
