The Bank of Chinan was established in 1938 under the Reformed Government of the Republic of China, the Japanese-sponsored administration installed in Nanjing following the occupation of central China. Its notes were instruments of the wartime parallel economy Japan constructed across occupied territories — designed to displace Nationalist Chinese fabi currency and redirect regional commerce through collaborationist financial channels.
The P#S3068 is among the earlier emissions of the series. Forgeries of Bank of Chinan notes circulated during the occupation period, introduced by both Nationalist and Communist networks specifically to destabilize the occupying administration's monetary operations.
