The Bank of Central China was a puppet institution established under Japanese occupation to manage currency in the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi region. Notes issued under this authority in 1945 were circulating in territory that was actively contested — the final year of the Pacific War saw dramatic front-line shifts across central China, and much of this paper lost practical value within months of printing as Japanese control collapsed.
Pick S3362 falls in the "S" — Special — series, reflecting its provisional or regional military-economic character rather than mainstream national issue status.
