| Obverse description | Central design depicts Taedong Gate (Taedongmun), the historic east gate of Pyongyang, rendered in fine detail showing the multi-tiered traditional Korean pavilion structure with characteristic curved tiled roofs atop a massive stone rampart pierced by an arched gateway, flanked by decorative rockery and shrubbery in the lower field.
