| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Maximilian II of Bavaria, rendered with fine neoclassical detail showing his characteristic mustache and short side-whiskers, with naturalistically engraved hair. The truncation of the neck is cleanly cut. The encircling legend reads MAXIMILIAN II KŒNIG V. BAYERN, distributed around the periphery, while the engraver's signature C. VOIGT appears incuse along the lower truncation. The smooth field exhibits rich iridescent toning. |

| Reverse description | The Bavarian royal coat of arms, a quartered shield displaying the traditional lozengy and lion devices surmounted by a royal crown with orb and cross finial, is supported on either side by a rampant crowned lion standing on a foliate plinth. The circular legend ZWEI VEREINSTHALER * XV EIN PFUND FEIN arcs around the upper periphery, with a small six-pointed rosette serving as a stop between the denomination and fineness statement. The date 1860 appears in the lower field beneath the plinth, separated by a decorative foliate ornament. |
