| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central square frame containing a multeline Devanagari legend invoking the royal name and titles of Prithvi Bir Bikram Shah, with a central medallion depicting a trident (trishula) flanked by stylized floral and religious ornaments. Decorative dot clusters and crescent-shaped symbols fill the spandrels to the left and right of the square frame. Above the frame, outside the border, appears the auspicious Devanagari invocation Sri Sri, and below the frame the Vikrama Samvat date in Devanagari numerals. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |

The 2 Tola denomination was a distinctly South Asian weight-based unit — one tola equaling the weight of a silver rupee, roughly 11.66 grams — which Nepal retained in its gold coinage long after most regional powers had rationalized toward metric or British imperial standards. Prithvi Bir Bikram Shah died in 1911, the same year this piece was struck, making it a terminal-year issue of his reign. He had ruled since 1881 under effective Rana oligarchy control, with Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher holding actual administrative authority.
