Amanullah Khan struck this coin in the immediate aftermath of the Third Anglo-Afghan War — a conflict that lasted barely a month in 1919 but secured full Afghan control over foreign policy from the British. The gold tilla issues of his early reign were as much a political announcement as a circulating currency, asserting monetary independence from a colonial framework that had constrained his predecessors.
Fr#26 is occasionally encountered with weak central strikes, a known consequence of die alignment inconsistencies at the Kabul mint during this transitional period.
