Beschrijving voorzijde Central field dominated by the quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz, displaying the six-spoked wheel of Mainz alternating with fleurs-de-lis in the quarters, surmounted by an elaborate electoral cap beneath a cross-topped crown flanked by decorative foliage and the two supporters of the achievement. The shield is encircled by an ornate wreath of acanthus-style foliate ornament. The peripheral legend in Latin reads WOLFFG: D: G: ARCHI: MOGVN: P: ELECT., identifying Wolfgang von Dalberg as Archbishop of Mainz and Prince-Elector, separated by rosette stops, with a beaded inner border.
Schrift voorzijde Latin

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a boldly struck equestrian figure of Saint Martin of Tours in three-quarter view to the left, mounted on a prancing horse, depicted in contemporary armour and wearing a plumed helmet, in the act of sharing his cloak with a kneeling beggar below the horse's hooves — the iconographic motif that earned this type the popular designation 'Bettlertaler' (beggar thaler). A small shield bearing the Mainz wheel is visible at the lower field. The surrounding peripheral legend reads MONETA: NOVA: AR GEN: MOGVNT: 1586, separated by dot stops, with the date 1586 prominently placed at the top of the legend, enclosed within a beaded inner border.
