正面描述 Crowned and helmeted four-fold quartered coat of arms within a beaded inner circle, the shield displaying the heraldic charges of Brunswick-Grubenhagen with slightly concave lateral sides. Elaborate mantling and crest with a lion passant surmount the helm above the shield. The circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading WOLF ET PHIL D G DVC BRVN E LV, identifying the joint rulers Wolfgang and Philip II by the Grace of God, Dukes of Brunswick and Lüneburg.

附加信息

Brunswick-Grubenhagen was among the smallest and most financially strained of the Welf principalities, and by 1595 it was effectively a relic — the line would die out entirely in 1617 when Philip II died without a male heir. This klippe was struck under the joint rule of Wolfgang and Philip II, a co-regency arrangement common in the fragmented Welf territories as a way to manage dynastic instability rather than resolve it.

Square klippe formats at this weight were prestige objects, almost certainly struck for presentation rather than circulation. Fiala's documentation of this type remains the primary reference; MB#104 specimens surface rarely at auction.
