Rudolf II's relationship with Hall was complicated by his notorious reluctance to authorize coin production at all — his obsessive interest in alchemy and the occult frequently distracted from administrative duties, and mint warrants were sometimes delayed for years. The Hall Mint nonetheless remained one of the most technically capable operations in the Habsburg lands, drawing on Tyrolean silver from the nearby Schwaz mines, which by the early seventeenth century were past their peak output but still substantial.
The two KM references reflect documented die variants rather than separate issues. Dav EC II#3004 provides the primary attribution for the type within the broader European crown-sized silver series.
