Additional information

John George of Hohenzollern ruled Jägerndorf as a Protestant prince during the years immediately preceding the catastrophe of the Thirty Years' War. His administration of the duchy ended abruptly after the Battle of White Mountain in 1620, when he backed the losing Bohemian cause. The Habsburgs subsequently stripped him of Jägerndorf and sentenced him to death in absentia — he died in exile in 1624, never recovering his lands.

Double thalers of this period and issuer are rare survivors. Friedensburg 3330 documents a tight emission window that closed with the political collapse of 1621.
