Reverse description The entire reverse field is occupied by a fifteen-line commemorative inscription in Early New High German, set within a plain inner circle and surrounded by a beaded border. The text records in precise detail the events of 21 October 1545, commemorating the defeat and capture of Duke Henry II of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel and his son Karl at Bockholm by the forces of the Schmalkaldic League under the supreme command of Landgrave Philip of Hesse, in the presence of Duke Maurice of Saxony. Words are separated throughout by lozenge-shaped punctuation marks.
