Obverse description Central field occupied by a large crowned ducal monogram 'F' (for John Frederick) within an ornate laurel wreath. Surrounding the wreath, nine heraldic shields arranged in a circular composition display the various territorial arms of the Brunswick-Lüneburg dynasty, each surmounted by a crown. The outermost border is formed by a continuous chain or bead-and-link decorative ring. The circular Latin legend reads EX DURIS GLORIA with the date 1671 and mint-master initials JF and LW incorporated into the field at lower center.
