Obverse description Large ornate multi-quartered heraldic shield at center, bearing the arms of Saxony, Jülich, Cleves, and Montbéliard among other territorial claims, surmounted by a complex crest of multiple helmets with elaborate mantling and ornamental crests. The date appears divided across the lower field flanking the shield, with the mintmaster's initials W-A at the base. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire composition reading the duke's titles and name.
