| Reverse description | The entire reverse field is occupied by a ten-line funerary inscription in bold Roman capitals, rendered in deeply engraved horizontal lines filling the coin's face from top to bottom. The text commemorates the death of Margareta Elisabeth, beloved consort of Duke John Albert II, who died on 16 November 1616, expressing the Lutheran Christian hope of resurrection on the last day and entry into eternal life. A small decorative cartouche with floral ornaments and a tiny heraldic device appears at the bottom of the field beneath the final line of text. The rim is bordered by a beaded inner circle and a milled outer edge. |
