| 表面の銘文 | D G GVST ADOLP DVX MECKLENB 1677 |
| 裏面の説明 | Quartered heraldic shield displaying the arms of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Güstrow, surmounted by a large ducal crown. The multi-quartered escutcheon incorporates the traditional Mecklenburg bull's head, the Rostock griffin, and other territorial charges, set within an ornate Baroque cartouche flanked by elaborate palm or acanthus-leaf sprays. The circumferential Latin legend QVID RETRIBVAM DOMINO, meaning 'What shall I render unto the Lord,' runs around the upper and lateral periphery of the field. A milled border frames the entire reverse. |

Gustav Adolphus of Mecklenburg-Güstrow died in 1695, making a 1677 issue a mid-reign production — but the duchy itself was in a peculiar administrative position by then, having been partitioned from Mecklenburg-Schwerin in 1621 and perpetually contested by rival ducal lines. The 1677 date places this coin squarely in the aftermath of the Franco-Dutch War, during which Mecklenburg territories suffered Swedish and Brandenburg troop movements that repeatedly disrupted the local economy.
Double thalers of this duchy are scarce survivors; most large silver was melted or exported as the region lurched between occupying powers.
