| Obverse description | Square klippe flan with a raised circular beaded border enclosing the principal device. At center, the crowned arms of Kronstadt — a crowned shield bearing the city's distinctive roots and trunk motif — flanked by the mintmaster's initials C and B. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the inner field, reading: NOS IN NOM DOM CONFIDIMVS 1612, meaning 'We trust in the name of the Lord,' with the date 1612 integrated into the inscription. The overall design is rendered in the bold relief characteristic of early seventeenth-century Transylvanian hammered coinage. |
