Obverse description Central field dominated by a large quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of the Bishopric of Münster and the Duchy of Bavaria, surmounted by an electoral bonnet and flanked by two rampant lions as supporters. The Bavarian lozengy pattern and the Münster cross are clearly delineated within the quarters. A beaded inner circle frames the shield, with the circular Latin legend running between the inner and outer milled border. The inscription identifies Ferdinand as Elector of Cologne, Bishop of Münster, and Duke of Bavaria.
