| Obverse description | Laureate and armored bust of Emperor Ferdinand II facing right, wearing a ruffled collar and elaborate pauldron with decorative detailing. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the prevailing early Baroque style, with the emperor's features rendered with considerable naturalism. A circular beaded border frames the design. The peripheral Latin legend reads FERDINANDVS II D G R I S AVG G HUNG BO REX, identifying the emperor by name and his titles as elected Holy Roman Emperor and King of Hungary and Bohemia. |

| Reverse description | The elaborate quartered arms of the House of Habsburg displayed on an ornate shield surmounted by a crowned imperial double-headed eagle with wings displayed, the whole flanked by subsidiary coats of arms of the hereditary lands. The date appears divided in the field to either side of the crown at the top. A beaded inner border separates the central armorial achievement from the peripheral Latin legend, which continues the titulature of Ferdinand II as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Count of Tyrol. |
