Reverse description The quartered coat of arms of the Duchy of Saxe-Altenburg, displaying the arms of the Ernestine line of Wettin, surmounted by a large ducal crown and supported by elaborately draped ermine mantling tied with ribbon bows at either side with tasselled cords. The legend around the field reads 2 THALER VII EINE F.MARK 3½ GULDEN at top and sides, and VEREINS 1847 MÜNZE along the lower arc, with small decorative stops separating elements. A fine dentilated border frames the design.
