Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Grand Duke Carl Friedrich of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed wavy hair and side-whiskers. The truncation is plain. The circular legend surrounds the effigy along the periphery, separated from the beaded border. The mint mark 'A' (Berlin Mint) appears at the bottom of the field below the bust truncation.

Reverse description The quartered and crowned arms of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, elaborately mantled with ermine-lined drapery supported by two flanking supporters, surmounted by a grand ducal crown. The shield displays the complex dynastic quarterings of the house. A small crown ornament appears at the base of the composition. The circular legend enclosing the denomination and monetary standard runs along the periphery within a beaded border, with the date split across the lower field.
